About Dr. MCB

Curiosity is the engine.

I'm a psychiatrist. Everything else I do started with a question I could not leave alone.

I grew up in Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau, an Acadian village of about sixty people in Nova Scotia. As a child, I asked so many questions that my classmates once put their hands on my head and prayed for all my questions to be answered.

It did not cure me.

Those questions eventually took me into psychiatry, adult ADHD, ACT, elite sport, medical teaching, clinical AI, and the systems that decide whether useful information can travel. The room changes. My responsibility doesn't: separate what we know, what we're inferring, and what still needs a better answer.

The clinic

My expertise in psychiatry and human behaviour is the centre of gravity.

I have spent more than 16,000 hours listening to people describe what their minds are doing, what their lives are asking of them, and why the obvious explanation does not quite fit. That work still grounds everything else.

I lead a referral-only virtual adult psychiatry practice in British Columbia. Current service and referral information lives in the separate Clinical Practice section, where the language is deliberately calmer and more exact. No health information belongs in this website's newsletter or ordinary inquiry routes.

My work

The same questions come up everywhere I work.

They follow me from one setting to the next. They organize the writing because they organize the work. Nobody's mind respects the categories.

Teaching and high performance

I test ideas inside real organizations.

I teach because explaining something to another person is a very efficient way to discover whether I understand it. The University of British Columbia lists me as a Clinical Instructor in its Department of Psychiatry.

High-performance environments test a different part of the same question: what happens to judgment, identity, disclosure, and care when the result matters a great deal? Athlete mental health and performance belong in that conversation, but they are not the same thing—and neither can be separated from the system around the athlete.

Writing and the book

I write when something needs more room to explain.

Evidence-reviewed articles show you the sources, the limits, and the date the evidence was checked. Essays are different: you're reading me thinking on the page, and they don't return to this site until I can stand behind the words as mine.

Madeline Antony and I co-authored The Psychology of High-Performance Sports Organizations: Culture, Safety, and Leadership, which is published by Routledge in August 2026. The book, reading companion, browser-local practice workspace, and Culture Field Kit are related, but each has its own job and its own rights boundary.

Founder of Limbus Health

I build software because waiting harms patients.

I founded Limbus Health after seeing the gap between a person needing a psychiatric assessment and a psychiatrist being able to review the evidence. That founder history explains why I chose the problem. It does not establish any product's intended use, validation, authorization, or suitability for a patient.

Limbus Health is a separate company, not a Dr. MCB service. Its official sources carry current product and authorization information. Software may organize information for review; responsibility for clinical judgment remains with an appropriately authorized human professional.

Speaking

Bring the evidence—and the useful question—into the room.

I speak with medical, corporate, and sport audiences about mental health, psychological flexibility, responsible AI, psychological safety, and performance. I'm not interested in giving a room a borrowed slogan and calling it change. I want people to recognize the real problem, understand what the evidence can support, and leave with a question they can use.

I also coach.

I work with a small number of executives and high performers, separately from the medical practice — coaching is not clinical care. Applications are closed right now.
